Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Items with weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to stronger bases. Items with strong bases, such as the Titans of eth have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or received from missions and chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the material or component needed to make that happen.

There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade item components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped freely.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials required do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a few essential items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.

When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available is contingent on the item's base. For example an uncommon or unique weapon with a base that is standard will only have two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests based on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an Best item upgrader does not attain its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the choice to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material however it will have lower chances of success.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.

Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than other. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This can be a good or a negative thing depending on your requirements and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that increases the power of the item upgrader kit by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are rolled over the standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the higher the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

Sets

In general, weapons and jewelry offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons.
