WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item upgrades level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item level upgrade (just click for source) from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item upgrader mod slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade items recipe. In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item upgrading level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

First, Item Level Upgrade you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality gear.
